Louise Jean Swearingen: 1930-2021

Louise Jean Swearingen, age 91, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021, in Centralia, WA. She was born at home, by Dr. Eugene Stevens, June 14, 1930, in Dryad, WA, to Charles and Oda (Stewart) Smith. She married Glenn Swearingen in Chehalis on June 18, 1949; they lived in Chehalis most of their married life. Louise and Glenn celebrated their 72nd anniversary this year.

Louise and Glenn enjoyed traveling in the United States. For over 20 years they spent time at their condo in Laughlin, NV, enjoying the desert sun. She also enjoyed touring Europe and back east with her sisters. As a homemaker she loved spending time with family members and attending family reunions. She was an avid gardener, home decorator, excellent cook, baker and quite a sewer. She had fun collecting antiques to display in her home.

Louise was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include husband, Glenn Swearingen; daughters, Cynthia Silva-Newgard, Montana, and Gayle Collins, Washington; grandchildren, Nicole Zock, Alise Silva, Lacey Collins and Natalie Collins Shaw; and great-grandchild, Memphis Silva; sister, Evelyn Curtis; and brother, Phil Smith,

She is preceded in death by brothers, Clayton and Wallace Smith; sisters, Edith Minkler, Blanche Farwell, Mary “Bea” Morton, and twin sister, Lois Onn.
