In just its second game in 27 days, W.F. West couldn’t shake off the rust quick enough as the Bearcats were handed a 59-38 defeat by Shelton on the road Thursday in 2A Evergreen Conference play.
The Bearcats hung in in the first quarter, trailing just five, but a 20-10 run by the Highclimbers to end the half gave Shelton a comfortable lead it wouldn’t relinquish.
Senior Dirk Plakinger led the Bearcats with 14 points, while Austin Snyder added five and Cameron Amoroso and Soren Dalan each finished with four.
W.F. West (5-4, 3-2 EvCo) heads to Class 3A Kelso for a non-league matchup on Friday.
