ONALASKA — Up 21-18 and sensing the momentum shifting in Morton-White Pass’ favor in game two, Onalaska knew exactly what to do. The Loggers end practice every night with a game called 21-18.

“I said, ‘See the score? We got work to do,'” Onalaska coach Jenny Hamilton said.

The Loggers went to work and put away MWP, eventually sweeping the Timberwolves (25-22, 29-27, 25-13) in a Central 2B League matchup at home on Monday.

Junior dynamo Morgan Hamilton used her windmill arm action to hammer a match-high 24 kills to go with 15 for 15 serving, four aces and 22 digs, helping the Loggers pull past the T-Wolves.

“She was pounding it tonight,” Jenny said. “She stepped it up and kept us in the game.”

Jenny told sophomore setter Dakota Hamilton to keep feeding Morgan, who was the only Logger consistently hitting over MWP’s block. Dakota finished with a match-high 32 assists and added two kills

Senior Hannah James tallied 12 kills and 28 digs with 100% serving. Libero Desi Smith contributed 20 digs and was 11 for 12 serving. Senior Andi Oliver pitched in six kills, two block kills and three assists.

“(Morton-White Pass) didn’t miss many serves,” Jenny said. “They just stayed in it.”

Morton-White Pass has now lost six straight. The Timberwolves were led by Chloe Kelly’s nine assists, five kills and two blocks. Emarey Hampton added five kills, Breejah Townsend had three kills and Kelly Pakar (16 for 16) and Abigail Sympson (12 for 12) each served 100%.

“We played well the first two games and stayed with them,” MWP coach Tammy Kelly said. “The last game we struggled with a couple of their servers.”

Onalaska improves to 10-3 overall and 6-1 in league. The Loggers need to garner another victory on Wednesday when they travel to Stevenson to remain in contention for one of the top four seeds at districts.

Morton-White Pass (3-13, 1-8 league) is currently in a three-way tie with Toledo and Rainier for the ninth and final district playoff spot in the C2BL. All three have one league win. The Timberwolves’ need a win over visiting Napavine on Wednesday to remain in contention.
