The Onalaska volleyball team went south for its matchup against Toutle Lake on Thursday, and the Loggers came home with a 25-23, 28-26, 16-25, 25-20 victory.
The Loggers had a big lead in each set and let Toutle Lake hang around, but they were able to finish strong in the three sets they won.
“We shrugged putting them away,” Onalaska coach Susan Gordon said. “They are a good defensive team, and we let them hang around.”
Even after the Ducks took the third set to force a fourth, Onalaska regrouped and made sure it didn’t go five.
“We did not come off the bench ready to play in that one,” Gordon said of the third set. “The girls did a good job of taking care of the ball and getting the win in the final points, which was nice to see.”
Emalie Jacoby led the Loggers with 22 digs, 19 kills, and three aces, while Braelyn Babb collected 34 assists and also had a pair of blocks at the net.
Leah Hamilton had eight kills, Capri McGraw tallied 15 digs, and Aliana Morales had three aces from the line. Karsyn Koenig and Faith Hammer both had two blocks at the net.
The Loggers (8-3, 2-1 C2BL) will hit the road again on Monday, when they’ll head to Morton to take on the Timberwolves.
