Loggers Run Out of Time in Loss to Chinooks

Digging itself into too big of a hole to climb out of, the Onalaska girls basketball team couldn’t quite overcome a 22-point deficit in a 45-37 loss to Kalama at home Friday night in Central 2B League play.

The Loggers were led by a frenetic effort from Brooklyn Sandridge in the second half, with the senior hitting six 3-pointers and scoring a game-high 23 points to nearly pull off the improbable comeback. Her sister, Kaiyah, led the charge on defense, limiting the Chinooks to just 11 points in the second half.

But it wasn’t enough, after a slow start.

“We dug ourselves too big of a hole in the first half,” Ony coach Alana Olson said. “We came out slow on both ends of the court. The girls worked really hard in the second half and made a nice run, but we ran out of time.”

Ony returns to the court on Tuesday against Winlock in more league action.
