The Tumwater Bonds had a successful run in Toledo over the weekend, taking first in three of the four divisions at the Toledo Cheese Days Tennis Tournament.
Abigail Bond, a Thunderbird alum currently playing for George Fox, took first in the women’s singles tournament, beating Sherry Clarke of Lake Tapps 6-0, 6-1. In the women’s doubles tournament, she teamed up with Tanya Bond to win 6-1, 6-0 over Wendy Simmons and Dana Kraschel of Castle Rock.
Tanya and Doug Bond, meanwhile, won the mixed doubles crown in the by far the closest championship match played Sunday, beating Nachiko Yamamoto and Thad Grudin of Rochester 6-4, 7-5.
Centralia’s James Han swept past Mikey Carlton of Bend, Ore., 6-0, 6-0 in the men’s singles title game.
