Lewis County has outlined how it plans to use the first half of its $15.6 million in American Rescue Plan funds. The first chunk of its allocation has been received, with the second half expected to arrive in May of next year.
The county’s plan, according to County Manager Erik Martin, is subject to change as commissioners work through U.S. Treasury Department guidance and as they hear from the community about local needs. The county will be working with the Lewis Economic Development Council, city governments and other partners to decide on allocations that align with the county’s five-year strategic plan.
So far, preliminary allocations are as follows:
• Public health and community response resilience — $1.2 million
• Government services — $950,000
• Water infrastructure — $1.55 million
• Sewer infrastructure — $1.55 million
• Broadband — $500,000
• COVID-19 economic impact on the community — $2.05 million
