The Lewis County Human Resources office has gained two new officials.

Amber Smith, who has served over four years as a Lewis County deputy prosecuting attorney, took over as director of risk management and human resources on Nov. 2. Meanwhile, Daleyn Coleman, who has served as a county employee for 23 years, is now deputy director of the Human Resources Department. Coleman began working in the Auditor’s office in 1999 and moved to the Human Resources office in 2012.

“It’s a nice transition for me to be able to use my business and legal skills too,” Smith said, referring to her master’s of business administration and law degree. “We’re public servants first; serving county offices and departments, and citizens with public records.”

“I am excited to continue working with the employees of Lewis County in this capacity,” Coleman said. “Our team is dedicated to the idea of exceptional customer service and I look forward to leading our team in elevating the level of HR services we provide.”

Smith views her new job as director as a great transition, having previously assisted students with financial aid as an undergraduate student at Western Washington University and as a graduate assistant at Willamette University before working at the prosecutor’s office.

“Public service first is what we’ll continue to do here,” Smith said.
