Lewis County Dismisses 2019 Child Molestation Case  After Being Unable to Contact Alleged Victim

Because the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office has been unable to make contact with the victim in a child sexual abuse case, Lewis County Superior Court has dismissed the case without prejudice.

The defendant, Douglas M. Karger-Hom, 27, of Olympia, was initially charged with first-degree child molestation in May 2019 for allegedly abusing a minor in Lewis County between 2007 and 2010.

Karger-Hom pleaded not guilty to the allegation and was out of custody on a $25,000 unsecured bail. Before Judge Joely O’Rourke signed the order dismissing the case on July 8, Karger-Hom had been scheduled to go to trial on July 13.

As part of the dismissal, all protection and no-contact orders protecting the alleged victim have been dismissed and any bail that has been posted will be exonerated.
