A volunteer position to represent the county commissioners on the Lewis County Historical Museum Board is open for applicants.

The Lewis County Historical Museum provides collections, exhibits, preservation endeavors, public programs and volunteer opportunities to highlight an appreciation of the region's past.

“The Historical Museum Board helps guide the museum’s efforts, and the county’s representative is a voting member who also serves as a liaison regarding maintenance needs for the county-owned building,” a news release stated.

The Historical Museum Board includes representatives from the cities that include Chehalis and Centralia. It meets at 5 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month.

The ideal candidate would have an interest in local history and exhibit strong volunteerism. Those experienced in building maintenance would also be appreciated.

Those interested in representing the county on the Historical Museum Board can submit an application and a letter of interest to BOCC Clerk of the Board Rieva Lester by mail at 351 NW North St., Chehalis; via email at Committees@LewisCountywa.gov (include Historical Society in the subject line); and in person at the commissioners’ office in Room 210 of the historic courthouse at 351 NW North St., Chehalis.
