Several riders from across Lewis County, representing the W.F. West High School’s Washington Association of Equestrian Team (WAHSET), earned top 10 placements in the state meet last weekend and will go on to regionals for their events, competing against others from Washington and Oregon June 16-18 in Redmond, Oregon.

The upcoming competition is known as the Pacific Northwest Invitational Conference, or PNWIC.

The school’s drill team placed second in the state and will go on to the regional competition. Riders on the team are Mossyrock seniors Reagan Olson and Madison Smith, Centralia seniors Jeznee Journée and Allie Sutich, W.F. West senior Raylee Anderson, Toledo junior Shaylie Flanery, Onalaska junior Emma Briggs, Adna juniors Jayden Hellem and Katelyn Dipo, Adna sophomores Hailee Hellem and Cyndle Haller, W.F. West sophomore Shanelle Mathus, and home schooled freshman Maizy Samuelson.

The team outplaced themselves from last year, when the 2022 team earned the state’s bronze medal.

• Hunt Seat Over Fences: Navea Dunn, top ten

• Reining: Savanna Dorning, gold medal, PNWIC qualifier

• Team Birangle: Josey Majors and Cyndle Haller, top ten

• Canadian Flags Team: Raylee Anderson, Violet Ratkie, Reagan Olson, Kylee Smith, top ten

• Drill Freestyle: silver medal, PNWIC qualifier

• In-Hand Obstacle Relay: Jeznee Journee, Navea Dunn, Charlotte Barber, Isabel Thompson, bronze medal, PNWIC qualifier

• Breakaway Roping: Jeznee Journee, top ten, PNWIC qualifier

• Steer Daubing: Jeznee Journee, top ten, PNWIC qualifier
