Level 3 sex offender registers to live north of Centralia

A Level 3 sex offender has registered to live in the 19000 block of O’Connor Road Southeast north of Centralia, according to a news release from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

Ryan Matthew McMahon, 40, is not wanted by law enforcement at this time, but the community notification is a requirement for sex offenders deemed likely to reoffend.

McMahon is 5-foot-9, 160 pounds, and has brown hair and hazel eyes. He is a white man.

In 2000, McMahon pleaded guilty in Lewis County Juvenile Court to first-degree rape of a child. The offense involved McMahon having sexual contact with an 8-year-old girl when he was 14 years old.

He was originally released from confinement related to that offense in May 2003.

Following his release, he was convicted in 2005 of two counts of third-degree rape of a child. The crimes involved McMahon having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl when he was 19 years old.

As a result of that conviction, he was sentenced to 60 months in prison.

McMahon has been identified as a clear risk to the community, the sheriff’s office stated in the release.

“The individual who appears on this notification has been convicted of a sex offense that requires registration with the sheriff’s office,” the release stated. “Further, their previous history places them in a classification level that reflects the potential to reoffend.  The individual served the sentence imposed by the court and has properly notified the sheriff’s office of their current address. The law does not require this offender to do anything other than register. They are not wanted by law enforcement at this time. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public.”
