A recent letter to the editor published by The Chronicle suggests guns are inherently dangerous and should be subject to more legal control. 

It obviously never occurred to him that criminals are not inclined to bow to the demands of a Legislature. Anyone who embraces the opinion that you can keep lethal weapons out of the hands of lawless thugs by passing laws needs to go back to school — grade school.
