While we thank The Chronicle for its coverage of the Riverside Fire Authority’s upcoming fire levy lid lift proposal – Proposition 1, we find it important to clarify some of the details shared to limit any voter misunderstanding. The rate of proposed levy increase was listed in the article and headline appearing in the July 6 print edition as 11 cents. The actual rate of increase being proposed is from 1.04 to 1.35 - .31 cents.
The additional financial resources being sought with Proposition 1 are intended to provide the RFA with the ability to meet the current and expanding fire and emergency medical needs of our growing community, as evidenced by increasing development, increasing population and our increasing emergency response volume.
