Letter to the Editor: Centralia Leadership Requires Both Vision and Experience

Posted

Four-plus years ago, I decided to run for city council because I was ready to turn my passion for Centralia into action. As a small business and property owner in our historic downtown, I was, and remain, committed to doing all I can to make my neighborhood and all of Centralia thrive.

I am proud of the work I have done over the past four years with my fellow councilors, along with our community partners and volunteers, even with the twists and turns and challenges of a global — and local — pandemic.

We have taken great strides to mitigate flooding, expand infrastructure, upgrade technology, enhance our streets and parks and increase housing opportunities. We are now poised to leap forward, with new opportunities for collaboration on the horizon and incredible potential for growth. How we take the next steps toward planning for and embracing our future is critical. We must be smart, responsible, creative and compassionate. We must make decisions that address the concerns of today while always keeping in mind our long-term vision for Centralia. We must be ready and able to adapt to unexpected challenges and take advantage of emerging opportunities.

Fresh ideas are always encouraged and welcome as we plan for our city. Likewise, it is essential that we seek out the knowledge and experience of established leaders and our community members. I bring both new ideas and solid experience to the table, and I believe that is what makes me the right candidate for Centralia City Council, District 2. As I have over the past four years, I will research, ask questions, listen and learn, and do my very best to represent my constituents and my community.

I cannot emphasize enough how important the voices of our community are to the running of the city and to establishing priorities and work plans. I welcome your input any time, so please reach out with comments, concerns or questions to rstaeblerourcentralia.gmail.com or 360-269-0909.

I thank you for your support and ask for your vote to represent District 2 on the Centralia City Council. Working together we will make Centralia the most enviable and livable small city in the state of Washington.
