Late Surge Pushes Pirates Past Rainier

Adna led wire to wire but did most of its damage late as the Pirates ran away with a 10-1 road victory over Rainier in Central 2B League play on Friday.

Adna struck first when Brooklyn Loose smacked a solo home run to put the Pirates up 1-0 in the second inning. The two squads were then held scoreless until the fourth inning, where Adna plated four runs before tacking on five more in the sixth inning to pull away for good.

The Pirates offense was led by Danika Hallom going 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI. Natalie Loose was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Ashley VonMoos was 2 for 4 with two runs and an RBI.

Karlee VonMoos went all seven innings in the circle, striking out eight batters while allowing zero earned runs.

Rainier’s offense was led by Keira Anderson going 2 for 2 with an RBI, while Madison Mounts was 2 for 3 and Bailey Elwell was 1 for 3 with a run scored.

Elwell pitched all seven innings, allowing 10 runs on 14 hits and one walk to go with five strikeouts.

Rainier (8-2, 3-2 C2BL) heads to Napavine for a doubleheader on Monday.

Adna (7-3, 6-0 C2BL) remains unbeaten in league and hosts Pe Ell-Willapa Valley in a non-league clash of powerhouse programs at noon on Saturday.
