Dropping its first game of the season, the Napavine girls soccer team fell to the defending 2B state champion Kalama Chinooks, 2-0, Monday in Napavine.
The Tigers had a hard time keeping possession, but otherwise held the Chinook attack in check for 75 minutes of gametime.
But the Kalama attack was swift and decisive. Breaking free in the 35th minute, a nice cross was put right to the foot of eighth-grader Sienna DiCristina, who put the ball past Napavine keeper Taylen Evander for the game’s first score.
Just three minutes later, sophomore Bridgette Hollifield scored on a breakaway to give the Chinooks a 2-0 lead at the half, and the Tigers couldn’t manage enough offense to get back into it.
The Tigers (3-1) will look to rebound against Toledo on the road Wednesday.
