Johnson, Wolves win EvCo titles

Black Hills’ Ellie Johnson had a round to remember at Tumwater Valley Golf Course on Tuesday, as the junior shot a 3-over 75 to win the EvCo League Tournament.

Her mark was 14 shots clear of the next-closest golfer and 23 strokes clear of the third-place finisher.

Johnson wasn’t the only Wolf to have success, as Black Hills won the team title. W.F. West finished second as a team, and Tumwater took third.

With the win, Johnson earned League MVP honors.

W.F. West’s Madyson Alexander, Anabel Moeckel, and Paige Duncan earned first-team All-League honors by placing in the top 7 (excluding the winner), as did Black Hills’ Natalie Buchanan and Melody Hackworth and Tumwater’s Jenna Kalar, who finished as the league runner-up.

Tumwater’s Lucy Ramos, W.F. West’s Joelie Corey and Lexie DeLisle, Black Hills’ Lila Ariss and Dolby, and Centralia’s Tess McMurry earned second-team honors by placing eighth through 13th.

Next up for the EvCo teams is the district tournament, which is set to take place next Tuesday and Wednesday, May 13 and 14, at Tumwater Valley.
