Investigation underway after two bodies found in Winlock home

Law enforcement officials are investigating a potential double homicide after two bodies were found inside a Winlock residence late Tuesday night.

Officials with the Washington State Patrol, the Winlock Police Department and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office remained at the scene on Wednesday morning. Officials confirmed to The Chronicle the case is being investigated as a homicide. 

Officers with the Winlock Police Department were dispatched to a request for a welfare check on an individual at a residence in the 400 block of Byham Road in Winlock shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, an officer told a Chronicle reporter at the scene Wednesday. 

“After further investigation, forced entry was made into the residence and two deceased individuals were found inside,” the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office stated Wednesday afternoon in a news release. “The Winlock Police Department requested the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office’s assistance with the investigation.” 

Officers reportedly found the bodies sometime after midnight. 



On Wednesday morning, the area remained taped off as investigators worked at the scene. 

“The case remains active and due to the nature of the investigation, no further information is being released at this time,” the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release. 

“Autopsies will be completed and information about the decedents, to include cause and manner of death, will be released by the Lewis County Coroner’s Office,” the sheriff’s office stated.
