In Loving Memory of William Alden: 1944-2022

William Charles “Bill” Alden, 78, of Pe Ell, Washington, passed away May 24, 2022 at home. He was born Feb. 17, 1944 in Chehalis, Washington, to William George “Bill” Alden and Wilma Marie (Good) Alden. Bill was the second born of four children. He had three sisters, Marilyn, Cheryl and Suzanne. 

In 1962, he graduated from Boitsfort High School. On July 18, 1963, Bill married Marsha Katherine Taylor in Centralia, Washington, and they spent 58 wonderful years together. They had three children: daughter Lisa Parente and sons Keith and Matt Alden. From 1962 to 1963, Bill served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged for hardship when his father passed away and he was needed to help his mom run the dairy farm. Bill enjoyed working on the farm with the cows and horses. 

When Bill turned 21 years old, he began working at Weyerhaeuser, retiring at 62. He held various jobs including choker-setter, skid operator, cat skinner, log scaler, truck driver and road grader. 

His hobbies included farming, raising horses and cows, riding and training horses, hunting and riding motorcycles and dirt bikes. He was a member of the Chehalis Valley Baptist Church and volunteered at AWANA at Boistfort Community Church. Bill enjoyed watching Larry’s Country Diner and listening to the music. He subjected his kids to Lawrence Welk every Saturday night, in hopes that they would grow to love it, like he did. Bill was a loving and faithful husband and father, providing well for his family their entire lives and helped his adult children with whatever they needed done. As he got older, he was very involved with his grandchildren and enjoyed watching their sporting events. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Wilma Marie Alden. 

Survivors include his wife Marsha Alden; sisters Marilyn Keller, Cheryl Ames and Suzanne Nelson; children Lisa Parente, Keith Alden and Matt Alden; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on June 13, 2022 at the Dryad Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Sticklin Funeral Chapel.
