In loving memory of Vicki Ann Nelson Masten: 1949-2025

Posted

Vicki Ann Nelson Masten was born on Oct. 7, 1949, in Olympia, Washington, to Oliver and Marjorie Nelson. Two years later, her brother, Scott, was born. They grew up together on the family farm in South Bay, Washington.

Vicki graduated from North Thurston High School and went on to earn her teaching degree from Washington State University.

She met and married David Masten, and together they traveled the world before settling down and starting a family. They welcomed two sons, Chris in 1977 and Brian in 1979. The boys were Vicki’s pride and joy.

In 1984, the family moved to Castle Rock, Washington, where they raised their family. Vicki taught at Castle Rock Elementary School for more than 20 years and was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. In 2015, she and Dave relocated to Chehalis, Washington, to be closer to family.

Vicki enjoyed retirement, was an avid golfer and was a member of two women’s golf clubs. She also cherished time spent with her family, grandchildren and friends, who all brought her great joy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dave; her sons, Chris (Sarah), with children Lawson and Ella, and Brian (Amy), with son Parker; her brother, Scott (Sandra); her sister-in-law, Terri Lusk (Mike); as well as numerous cousins; nephews Travis Lusk, Craig Lusk, Blair Nelson and Oliver Nelson; and many dear friends.

Vicki lived a blessed and happy life, surrounded by those she loved.

A celebration of life will be held on Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. at Riverside Golf Club in Chehalis, Washington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
