Posted

Roy Delmar Pratt, 84, of Toledo, Washington, passed away in Olympia, Washington, Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, surrounded by family. Roy was born June 21, 1937, in Toledo at the family home to Leslie and Esther (Gleason) Pratt. Roy graduated from Toledo High School in 1955, where he was a member of the Track team and FFA.

Roy married his sweetheart, Patricia Richardson, on New Year’s Eve in 1961, and had planned to celebrate their 60th anniversary at year’s end. They raised three children, Terri, Jeff and Cheryl.

Roy was a proud veteran of the United States Army and the Army Reserves, serving from 1961 to 1967. He was stationed at Fort Ord in California, and Fort Richardson in Alaska. He worked in the logging industry as a timber faller for 45 years, working for Pratt Logging and several smaller local companies throughout his career.

Roy loved sports; watching, playing, or coaching, and spent several years coaching boys and girls softball and baseball teams. He was especially well known for his excellent horseshoe throwing skills, and enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and bowling throughout his life. He and Pat spent their retirement years traveling and casino hopping. Keno was his favorite game. Above all, Roy loved being with his family. Whether it was a large family gathering, immediate family get together, or a quick visit, he could often be found holding one of his grandkids or great-grandkids when they were young, and he always had a pocketful of candy to share with them.

Roy was preceded in death by his son Jeff; his parents Leslie and Esther; brothers Walt, Cliff and Ed; and sisters Mabel and Thelma.

He is survived by his loving wife Pat; daughters Terri (Dave) Ternan and Cheryl (Matt) Gillard; grandchildren Rochelle (Scott), Amber, Nikki, Ben (Danielle), Brandon (Carolyn), Corey, Cole and Riley; great-grandchildren Hayden, Haley, Benjamin, Bradley and Olivia; brother Dave; sisters Jeannie and Verna (Curt); and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021 at Fir Lawn Funeral Chapel in Toledo. A second visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021 also at Fir Lawn, followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. at the same location. Interment will be at Lone Hill Cemetery in Toledo.
