In Loving Memory of Robert Michael Perkins: 1970-2023

Robert “Rob” Perkins of Centralia, Washington, tragically passed away on Feb. 14, 2023, in a work-related accident. 

Rob was a lifetime community member in Lewis County. He grew up in Onalaska, Washington, where he was well known for his athletic accomplishments at Onalaska High School (class of 1988). After high school, Rob attended Yakima Community College where he played football. 

Rob was known in his adult life in the community for his time spent volunteering in youth sports, his longtime involvement and success in the logging industry and for always being willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, riding dirt bikes and coaching or watching his sons play sports. Rob recently fulfilled a longtime dream of his by starting his own business, R. Perkins Logging, LLC. 

Rob is preceded in death by his son, Kyle Perkins; his mother; Bobbie Perkins; and his father, Mike Perkins. Rob is survived by his son, John Perkins-Sharkey; his sister, Dawn Parmentier; his brother, KC Perkins; his nieces and nephews, Stacee, Josh, Kaidan, Kohl, Kason, Kavin, Sage, Riffe, Ivan and Alayla; and his girlfriend, Courtney McAuley. His family wishes to keep Rob’s spirit alive and felt by the community in the way of making a conscious effort to consistently love, care and help all those around them when possible. 

A potluck style memorial will be held for Rob at 11 a.m. March 18, 2023. It will be held in the Onalaska High School gymnasium. Prior to the memorial, there will be a procession of log trucks and crew buses. They will begin to meet at Bodie’s Truck Stop in Onalaska at 8:30 a.m. and will end the procession at the high school. His family looks forward to gathering with folks who shared their love for Rob to celebrate a life lived well.
