In Loving Memory of Melody Rose Dowell Mohney: 1975-2022

Posted

The world lost a beautiful soul all too soon. On June 20, 2022, Melody Rose Dowell Mohney received her wings. Mel was just 47 years young when her vibrant young life was cut short. Mel was born in Centralia, Washington, Jan. 8, 1975, to Kenneth and Bonnie Dowell. She graduated from Centralia High School in 1993 and Centralia College in 1995. Mel spent 26 years in the dental field, finishing her career as an office manager.

On June 27, 1998, Melody married the love of her life, Matt. Matt and Mel had a collaborative and caring relationship. It was based on mutual support and a deep love for one another and their children. Daughter Kooper and son Luke were the pride and joy of Mel’s life. The legacy of her kind spirit, passion for sports, love of the outdoors and zest for life will live on through them. Her indomitable spirit encouraged her family and friends to persist in the face of many struggles. Mel was most loved and known for her quick witted spirit. There wasn't a sporting event of her loved ones that she missed if she didn’t have to. Some of the most memorable days for Mel’s friends and family were days at the lake and vacations. She was always there to brighten the lives of others. Mel enjoyed life and was a true inspiration to others. Her contagious smile will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She cherished special moments with her father before his passing in 2021.

Melody is preceded in death by her father Kenneth Dowell, brother Kevin Dowell and uncle John Herron. She is survived by her husband Matt Mohney, son Luke Mohney, daughter Kooper Mohney, mother Bonnie Dowell, brother Edward Dowell, brother Kerry Dowell, brother Kenneth Dowell and her nieces and nephews who love their aunt and held a special place in her heart.
