Louis (Louie) William Haynes, 78, of Chehalis, passed away peacefully on Nov. 10, 2022. He was born in The Dalles, Oregon, on Aug. 1, 1944, to Louis and Rhoda Haynes.
Louie was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Irlene (Coleman) Haynes; his father and mother, Louis and Rhoda Haynes; sisters, Helen Clark, Dorothy Sullivan and Edith Jay; and his brother, Fred “Bud” Dixon. Louie is survived by his daughters, Donna (Neil) Hoium and Shelly (Bill) Cummings; grandchildren, Noel (Seth) Sharp, Miles Cummings, Jacob Hoium and Myah Hoium; and great-grandson, Liam Sharp. He is also survived by his oldest sister, Geraldine (Jeri) Smalley/ McClure; his childhood friend and brother-in-law, Jay (Geraldine, deceased) Ensrud; and numerous nieces and nephews.
As a young boy, Louie and his family settled in Chehalis where he lived quite a “Tom Sawyer” type of life. To keep him out of trouble, his dad set him up with Ham radio. He learned Morse code and talked with people all over the country. He graduated from W.F. High School in 1962 and on May 23, 1964, he married Irlene Coleman. They resided in Springfifield, Oregon, and later made their way back to Chehalis where they raised their two daughters.
Louie took a job at Gesler-McNiven and later went on to obtain his certification as a licensed service technician. Louie also worked several years at Central T.V. and Appliance and then onto David’s T.V. and Appliance where he eventually retired. He worked this trade his entire career and was well known throughout the community for his knowledge and skill. In 1972, Louie obtained his pilot’s license as he had a great love of airplanes and an even greater love of flying. He also loved music, fast cars and fireworks! Louie was a perpetual kid his whole life and always found joy in the fun stuff!
A graveside service at Claquato Cemetery and reception will be planned at a later date.
