Joel Robert Venemon passed away at Swedish Hospital in Seattle after a long struggle with chronic health issues. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Joyce (Markstrom) Venemon, and his sister, Chris Venemon.
Survivors include his sister, Lori Venemon Phillips of Salem, Oregon; nephew Patrick Phillips and his family, Jasmine Lywen-Dill and Juniper Rain Phillips of Los Angeles. His chosen family of steadfast friends includes Paul Owens of Seattle, Jim Mrowca of Tacoma and Louis Dieter-Ruhlin of Denver.
Joel will be remembered for his sharp, quick wit, charm and intelligence. One friend claimed, “He could make a dog laugh!” Indeed, he was truly funny — a trait that he came by honestly. Thanks, Mom!
A private service will be held at a future date, where his ashes will be scattered in the Puget Sound. RIP, brother. I will miss you always. P.S. — I forgive you for dying on my birthday (smile).
If so inclined, donate in Joel’s name to the Seattle Public Library Foundation.
