In Loving Memory of Jack Sturza: 1929-2022

Jack Lewis Sturza, 92, of Chehalis, Washington, finally got his wish to be with his wife, Maxine, and dog, Molly, passing away Saturday, April 23, 2022. He was born Dec. 4, 1929, to Jacob Sturza and Sophia Betcofski in Chehalis, Washington. 

Jack attended schools in Chehalis and later attended Oregon State University. There he met his sweetheart, Maxine, who he married on Aug. 31,1935. They started their family in Myrtle Point, Oregon. 

Jack ran a multitude of companies including a logging company in Oregon and a Teaching Pro at Coquille Valley Elks Golf Course. He started a real estate company and property development in Medford, Oregon. In 1976, Jack and his brother started Sunbird Shopping Center, retiring in 1995. 

Together, Maxine and Jack traveled the world extensively. Jack enjoyed skiing, golfing, scuba diving and fishing. Jack was one of the oldest living members of the Elks of Coquille, Oregon. 

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Sturza and Sophia Betcofski; wife, Maxine; and his dog, Molly. 

Survivors include sons Ron (Susanna) Sturza and Robert (Tammy) Sturza; grandson Joseph; granddaughter Ashley; daughter Joann (Denis) McNamara; and granddaughter Madison McNamara. 

The family would like to thank Silver Acres in Chehalis for their loving and quality care. 

A celebration of life for Jack and Maxine will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. July 10, 2022,, at Royal Oaks Country Club, Vancouver, Washington.
