In Loving Memory of Ilona (Helen) Nozsar: 1937-2021

Ilona (Helen) Nozsar passed away Sept. 26, 2021 at home in Toledo, Washington, at the age of 84. 

Ilona was born on Aug. 15, 1937 in Csákbereny, Hungary to Antal and Rozália Beke. She grew up in a large family on a farm. She married Lajos (Louis) Nozsar on Oct. 6, 1956 in Sur, Hungary. 

Later on she and her husband and infant daughter came to the United States sponsored by the Westminster Presbyterian Church and they settled in Chehalis, Washington. 

Ilona had various jobs over the years. She and her husband raised three daughters and one son. For three years, she and her husband owned a cafe-store in Scott Lake. She also had her own cleaning business and co-owned Rush Road storage in Chehalis. She was married for 56 years. 

Ilona enjoyed entertaining, hosting and cooking her Hungarian dishes for her family and friends. She was a great cook. She also enjoyed taking trips to Long Beach, Washington, visiting relatives in Hungary, going to Hawaii and California, gardening and reading. 

Ilona was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her four children Ilonka (Dave) Mundine, Chehalis; Margitka (Carey) Laws, Winlock; Zsuzsika (Lane) Castle, Toledo; and Lou (Denise) Nozsar of Chehalis. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren April Mundine Stratford, Connecticut; Mike (Savannah) Mundine, Chehalis; Staci (Charlie) Hall, Ethel; Craig Laws, Winlock; Justine (Mark) DeHaven, Chehalis; Jake (Brittany) Asher, Centralia; Austin Macy, Olympia; Megan (Mike) Cox, Japan; and Ashley (Brennan) Bailey, Chehalis. She has 14 great-grandchildren. 

A service will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021 at 11 a.m., at Sticklin Funeral Chapel in Centralia. 

Following the service is a luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. and a graveside service at 2 p.m. at the Napavine Cemetery.
