Earl passed away Aug. 3, 2025, in Tacoma, Washington. He was born Jan. 2, 1958, in Chehalis to Herbert and Norma (Tobin) Anderson.
In 1976, he graduated from Centralia High School. He then received a degree in forestry from Centralia College. While attending a college-sponsored field trip on Maui, he fell in love with the beauty, people and lifestyle of the Hawaiian Islands. He loved it so much he decided to move to paradise. He resided in Honolulu for the remainder of his life.
In his early years in Hawaii, he embraced physical challenges such as competing in marathons, rough water swims and triathlons. He led exercise classes for the YMCA, where he became a favorite instructor.
Later in life, he enjoyed photography, traveling the world, swimming in the ocean, horseback riding, walking on the beach and catamaran sailing. Earl had an infectious, friendly and outgoing personality. He loved meeting and talking to people. It seemed that everyone who met him immediately liked him. He most enjoyed spending time with family and friends and attracted a special group of loyal friends.
While in Hawaii, he worked retail and found his calling as a hair stylist. This “calling” proved to reveal Earl’s strong work ethic, self-discipline and business sense. He first interned at Paul Brown Salon. In 1988, he and two partners established the very successful Salon (808). Earl and Salon (808) served many loyal clients for years, including being the chosen salon for the Miss Universe contest. Earl was very much respected and adored by his clients, in whom he invested his heart and energy.
Earl is survived by his brother, Vic; numerous aunts and uncles; cousins; and countless friends both on the islands and on the mainland.
