In Loving Memory of Doris (Unzelman) Carey: 1927-2022

Doris (Unzelman) Carey passed away April 12, 2022 at the age of 94. She was born May 25, 1927 in a farmhouse on Jackson Prairie in Chehalis, Washington, to Alvin and Mabel Unzelman. 

Doris attended Chehalis schools, graduating in 1945 from Chehalis High School. She married James (Jim) Carey on July 22, 1950. They were married 67 years before his passing in 2017. She was a bookkeeper for their business Jim & George's Garage and a wonderful mother and homemaker. Together they raised their three daughters, Susan (Bill) Schoelkopf, Janet (Tom) Christin, and Gayle (David) Isaacson. She was preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Mabel Unzelman, and her brothers Lloyd Unzelman and Glen (Bonnie) Unzelman. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church and made many friends through her church family. She enjoyed gardening and canning and loved their trips to the casino. She is survived by her daughters Susan (Bill) Schoelkopf, Janet (Tom) Christin, and Gayle (David) Isaacson; grandchildren BJ (Kris) Schoelkopf, Kari (Wesley) Gamble, Jami (David) Soul, Holly (Mark) Chloupek, Dacia (Rolando) Christin, Eric (Mckenzie) Boyd, Jonathan (Ali) Isaacson and Bailey (Seth) Foster; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving her is sister-in-law Donna Unzelman, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thank you to Coleen Ferris and staff at My Blue Heaven Adult Family Home for the compassionate and loving care given to her. 

At her request, a private burial will take place.
