In loving memory of Don Buswell: 1922-2025

Posted

Donald Wallace Buswell (known far and wide as Don) was born on Aug. 30, 1922, in his parents’ home in Toledo, Washington. He died in that same home — one where he lived most of his life — on July 23, 2025, just shy of his 103rd birthday. Service to the community is a value he passed on to his sons. He was a flight instructor in WWII, a member of the Toledo School Board, a member of the Toledo Lions Club, and supported countless community projects.

Don was preceded in death by Bernice Buswell, his wife of 71 years. He also leaves behind a large extended family including his four sons: Don (Stacey), Carl (Donna), Guy (Rhonda), and Alan (Heidi) — all of Toledo. He also leaves eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025, at Toledo High School. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in his name to the Toledo Community Foundation or the Toledo Lions Club.
