In Focus: Salvation Army Reopens Updated Food Bank in Centralia

Posted

After pandemic-related changes, the Salvation Army of Lewis County reopened its food bank on Monday, welcoming people back inside after three years of a menu ordering format.

“We are all very excited to see people back inside and able to experience the in-person shopping again. It’s really an opportunity to serve others in a way that makes sense for them. Not only is it beautiful but now it’s back to being completely functional,” said Salvation Army Captain Gin Pack in a news release on the occasion.

The release stated over $15,000 food box orders were filled at the Centralia location in 2022.

With the grand reopening, the new facility unveiled a larger freezer, new shelving, more storage throughout the facility and updates to the walls and floors.

Monday’s event included a speech by Centralia Mayor Kelly Smith Johnston, a tour and a prayer.
