Oak Bagels & Coffee celebrated its grand opening in Chehalis on Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce.
The business is a concept that owners Lance and Megan Bunker and their family have wanted to make a reality for several years.
“My husband and I and our four kids have been chatting about opening a community space with real, fresh offerings. Once we started discussing it with others, Oak Bagels + Coffee took shape,” Megan Bunker said prior to the event.
What sets Oak Bagels + Coffee apart from other coffee shops is its handmade sourdough bagels, she said.
“Our baker, Michelle, has spent the past two years fine tuning the 24-hour process,” Megan Bunker said. “Every bagel is made in house from our starter, Aldough Rye. The dough goes through mixing, kneading, bulk ferment, shaping and a 12-hour refrigeration to develop the unique flavor. It is then boiled and baked fresh every morning. We have been selling out quickly, once the bagels are gone for the day, they're gone.”
Oak Bagels + Coffee serves unique bagels, spreads and bagel sandwiches, from jalapeno popper bagels to their hot mama spread. The coffee shop also has a variety of drinks to choose from, including custom lattes, smoothies and kombucha on tap. Their coffee is locally sourced from Mint City Coffee.
