Hot Start Pushes Black Hills Over Centralia

The Black Hills girls basketball team took control early and came away with its second 2A EvCo win of the season Tuesday at home, beating Centralia 43-29.

Kiley McMahon led the Wolves with 21 points, and logged seven rebounds, six steals, and three blocks. Claire Johnson added 10 points, coming a rebound short of a double-double with nine boards. Carmen Williams had 12 rebounds to lead Black Hills on the glass to go along with four steals and five points.

Emily Wilkerson had 10 points to pace Centralia as the only Tiger in double figures.

Black Hills led 19-6 after the first quarter, and while Centralia cut the deficit to nine at halftime, the Wolves got back in control down the stretch in the second half.

The Wolves will stay at home Thursday, taking on Aberdeen. Centralia will get its bye to end the week, then take on Mountain View at the Fort Vancouver MLK Day Classic next Monday.
