Ignited by three victories by Clark Henderson, the Timberwolves accumulated 133.5 points to place second in a league meet on Thursday night held in Montesano. Winlock was third with 80 points and Mossyrock nudged by Pe Ell 43-38 for fifth.
Henderson claimed both hurdle events by at least a second and ran the second leg of MWP’s victorious 400 relay in 47.46 seconds, barely beating Montesano. Noah Troy, the third leg in the relay, won the triple jump with a leap over 36 feet.
Anthony Snyder secured the 3,200-meter run for the Timberwolves. Winlock picked up three wins from Ricky Thompson (400), Chase Trodahl (1600) and Lincoln Ruiz (discus).
Mossyrock’s Marshall Brockway heaved the shot put over 42 feet for the win while Pe Ell’s Calan McCarty was second in both hurdle events.
MWP also finished second on the girls side, totaling 102 points. Mossyrock was third with 76 points as the three area teams that accumulated team points had a boatload of second place performances.
Winlock’s Kendyl Guenther cleared the high jump at 4-8 to claim the event. Victoria Sancho was the runner-up in the open 100, triple jump and anchored its 1,600 relay to a second place finish. Cali Scofield was second in the 300 hurdles for the Cardinals.
The Timberwolves’ 800 relay of Charlarin Madison, McKenzie Hope, Amy Martinez and Madyson Bryant won the 800 relay in 1:55.16. That same quartet was second in the 400 relay.
Bryant also darted to a runner-up finish in the open 200 for MWP.
Mossyrock had four second place performances in Reese Marshall (400), Renzy Marshall (javelin), Rose Seraphin (shot put) and its 800 relay.
