On a day where Ellie Gilbert and Grace Pancake were honored on senior night, it was junior Hannah Fay that stole the show with a seven-RBI day and four innings in the circle to help Napavine cruise by Mossyrock 14-3 in five innings.
“They’ve been awesome all year. We will miss them,” Napavine head coach Josh Fay said of Pancake and Gilbert.
Fay ended the game in the fifth with a grand slam to cap her four-hit performance. The Tigers (13-3, 7-1 C2BL), who will be the C2BL’s No. 2 seed for districts, broke the game open with a five-run third that featured four run-scoring hits.
Mossyrock (6-11, 3-5) avoided the shutout with a run in the fourth and two in the fifth. Taylor Schwartz and Erin Cournyer each recorded an RBI for the Vikings, who will be the league’s No. 6 seed for districts.
Taylen Evander went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for Napavine and Pancake scored four times. It closes the regular season on Friday at Tenino.
