Winlock’s Addison Hall scored a game-high 18 points to help the Blue Team to a 62-53 win over the White Team in the Southwest Washington Senior All-Star Game Saturday at W.F. West High School.
Hall — the Central 2B League co-MVP — scored 11 second-half points and drilled two 3-pointers in a game that was a defensive battle rather than an offensive showcase.
With the Blue Team holding a slim lead late in the fourth quarter, White Team coach Chris Bannish turned on a full-court press in hopes of a furious comeback attempt. But the Blue Team was able to break the press for the most part and hung on for the victory.
Hall was one of just three players to score in double digits, with Blue Team teammate and Napavine guard Natalya Marcial scoring 11 points and Tenino’s Ashley Schow scoring 12 for the White Team.
Hall said she came into this game knowing she wanted to put up shots and be aggressive. After being the undisputed leading scorer for her Cardinals team the past few years, Hall was able to kick back and relish the moment with a slew of formidable teammates — which turned into buckets for her.
“I kinda wanted to go out and have fun with it being my last high school game,” Hall said. “The plan was to play aggressively, since I have so many talented teammates. I was able to relax and wanted to be aggressive.”
It worked as Hall was able to find her rhythm and help fend off the White Team’s comeback bid.
She got plenty of scoring help from Marcial, who scored nine of her 11 points off three 3-pointers. Tumwater’s co-2A Evergreen Conference MVP Natalie Sumrok added seven points and was crucial in the paint, while Thunderbird teammate Cassie Kaufman (six points) hauled in double-digit rebounds and competed with ferocity all game.
For the White Team, Schow led the squad with a team-high 12 points, including eight in the first half. W.F. West’s Olivia Remund contributed a crucial eight points, while Rainier duo Faith Boesch and Isabella Holmes each chipped in seven points.
Also for the White Team, Onalaska duo Alex Cleveland-Barrera and Callie Lawrence scored six and five points, respectively. Adna duo Kaylin Todd and Faith Wellander added six and four points, respectively. W.F. West’s Makayla Mencke also played and did not score.
On the Blue Team, Toledo’s Greenlee Clark scored five points, Willapa Valley’s Lanissa Amacher scored two, Centralia’s Jadyn Hawley had two points, and W.F. West’s Lexi Roberts and Napavine’s Makensee Taliaferro each played and did not score.
