Grant Roosma’s Walk-Off RBI Seals Blazers’ Sweep

Grant Roosma drilled a walk-off RBI down the first base line to score pinch-runner Harrison Goyette from first base and lead Centralia College to a sweep of Pierce College in game two of a doubleheader Saturday.

The Blazers had no trouble in game one, as 2020 Centralia High School grad Derek Beairsto struck out five batters and allowed just one earned run in 5.1 innings on the mound, en route to a 10-4 victory.

Ayden Ruminski pitched 3.2 innings of relief and fanned three batters.

Offensively, Trent Jackson led the way with 2-for-3 hitting and two RBIs. Roosma and Nolan Wasson each drove in two runs and Andrew Dalton went 2-for-4 hitting.



In game two, the Blazers jumped out to a 5-1 lead, then watched it dwindle away as Peirce tied it up at 5-5 by the seventh inning before Roosma’s clutch walk off.

Koby Matsen threw 4.1 innings on the mound, striking out four and allowing three earned runs. Noah Bryerton fanned three batters in 2.2 innings of work.

Matthew Beckworth led the attack offensively with two hits and two RBIs.

Centralia COllege improves to 5-3 overall and travels to Tacoma Community College on Sunday.
