Karsyn Freeman and Danika Hallom did it all for the Pirates on Friday, leading Adna to a 81-55 win over Kelso in the Pirates’ first game of the Adna Holiday Tournament.
Freeman scored 34 points and Hallom added 21, combining for the same amount of points that Kelso scored as a team on the night.
Hallom went to work early, scoring 11 points in the first quarter to help Adna build a 13-point lead.
“Hallom led us in the first quarter and played really well,” Adna coach Chris Bannish said.
The Hilanders responded with a 20-point second, but the Pirates allowed just 25 points after the break.
“Our defense wasn’t good in the second quarter,” Bannish said. “But I thought we responded well in the second half.”
The Adna offense continued to flourish, as the Pirates followed up a 40-point first half with a 41-point second.
In addition to her 34 points, Freeman added seven rebounds, seven steals, and five assists (all team highs), and Hallom tallied five steals and four rebounds in addition to her 21 points.
Ava Humphrey scored five points, while Gaby Guard and McKenna Torrey both scored five. Guard also hauled in five rebounds, as did Kendall Humphrey, who scored four points.
Adna (6-1) will face another team from a higher classification on Saturday in their final tournament game, as the Pirates will welcome 4A Olympia, which currently sits at 8-1.
