Four Overnight State Route 6 Closures Planned Next Week for Willapa Hills Trail Pedestrian Bridge Work

Posted

Travelers planning to drive state Route 6 in Lewis County should expect overnight delays next week as crews continue work on the Willapa Hills State Park SR 6 Crossing Project.

Both directions of state Route 6 between Twin Oaks Road and South Scheuber Road near Chehalis will be closed nightly, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Monday, Dec. 5, through early morning on Friday, Dec. 9, for crews to install sections of the pedestrian bridge over the highway, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

During these four overnight closures, travelers will follow a signed detour using Twin Oaks Road and Highway 603.

“As with any highway maintenance and construction project, travelers must exercise caution through the work zone,” WSDOT wrote in a news release. “To keep both road users and road workers safe, travelers are asked to drive at slower speeds, have patience, obey warning signs and look for instructions from flagging personnel.”

Contractors working for the Washington State Parks Commission will work alongside WSDOT for the construction.
