The 40-acre wildfire near Mineral is still burning, but crews are making significant progress.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reported the fire 75% contained, compared to 50% containment reported on Monday.

That percentage is expected to grow in the coming days, DNR reported.

“Crews are making good progress!” local fire crews posted to Facebook Tuesday afternoon.

The fire broke out Friday afternoon and burned 40 acres by Sunday evening, but hasn’t grown since.

Information about the suspected cause of the fire has yet to be released.

DNR is leading the firefighting effort, with assistance from Mineral Fire and EMS and other neighboring fire stations.

Fire crews will continue to post updates to the Mineral Community News & Events page on Facebook: www.facebook.com/mineralwa/.
