Travelers who use Interstate 5 just north of Centralia should plan for overnight work and travel delays due to roadway repairs beginning Sunday, July 21, according to a news release from the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
Beginning Sunday and continuing nightly through Wednesday, July 24, WSDOT’s maintenance crews will close two lanes of the highway to perform pavement repair work along a 2-mile stretch of I-5 between Centralia and the Thurston County line.
During the nightly double lane closures, traffic will be reduced down to a single lane through the work zone, according to WSDOT.
From 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day, up to two northbound lanes will close nightly for pavement repairs.
From 8:30 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday, up to two southbound lanes will be closed for repairs.
“Travelers are reminded to slow down as they approach the work zone, follow directional signs, have patience and expect delays,” WSDOT wrote in a news release.
