Over three dozen wrestling teams descended on Centralia High School for the Tiger Classic on Saturday, and eleven area wrestlers came out with first-place finishes.
The W.F. West girls had three winners, as Eden Hornby (125), Aurora Martin (130), and Emily Mallonee (140) all went unbeaten on the day to win their respective brackets.
Lucy Hornby (115), Berkeley Varick (120), Kaylee Lehman (135), and Lily Canfield (190) all finished 2nd in their brackets.
As a team, the Bearcats scored 170 points to take the girls team title.
"I am very proud of this young group who all showed up and wrestled hard," W.F. West coach Matt Patana said. "We have a great team that fights hard to score every point."
Centralia had two winners each, as Ramona Reinitz (115) and Eva Reinitz (120) went undefeated, while Black Hills’ Sloane Kruger (105) earned a first-place finish and was named the girl’s Most Outstanding Wrestler of the day.
Black Hills’ Maddie Payne (170) also won her three matches to finish on top in her weight class.
Jocelyn Navarro (105, 2nd), Luna Martinez-Arevalo (110, 3rd) and Braylee Blakkenship (130, 3rd) earned top-3 finishes for the Tigers, while Lizzy Grunenfelder (145, 2nd), Izzy Steinebach (155, 2nd) and Ellie Doney (135, 3rd) placed in the top three for the Wolves.
Tumwater’s Reagan Humphries (235) and Rainier’s Keira Anderson (190) also won their classes on the girls side, while Napavine’s Maya Kunkel (170) earned a second-place finish.
Napavine’s Emily Mendoza (100), Tenino’s Maleah Chacon (125), and Rainier’s Annabelle Whiteman (140) and Ryleigh Cruse (235) all took third.
On the boys side, Black Hills’ Roberto Rivera-Jesus (113) and Rorek Foss (126) went 4-0 to finish first, while Cash Boos (138) and Ammon Combs (175) took second and Aiden Labouff (120) and Porter Neklason (150) took third.
Napavine’s Peyton Hernandez (132) was the Tiger boys’ lone winner, while Tommy Deebach (175) took third.
Rochester’s Lucas McIntire (285) finished third, while Centralia’s Hunter Van Der Hoeff (138), Dobah Denetclaw (144), Lafel Denetclaw (150), and Dashba Denetclaw (157) all finished fourth.
