Early Morning House Fire in Rochester Displaces Family

A family has been temporarily displaced and one member was injured after a fire broke out in their Rochester home early Monday. 

The West Thurston Regional Fire Authority (RFA) was dispatched at around 5:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, to 179th Avenue Southwest and Albany Street. A single-wide mobile home in the Carriage Club Estates had caught fire.

Fire Chief Rob Smith stated the reporting person said the fire started in the living room. The person said he had fallen asleep while “smoking something.” 



The fire damaged about 25% of the home and one person was sent to the hospital with minor injuries. The exact cause of the fire is still being investigated.

The West Thurston RFA was assisted by several other fire units in the region, including the Tumwater Fire Department, South Thurston Fire & EMS, McLane Black Lake Fire, Riverside Fire and East Olympia Fire.
