A fire that spread from a dumpster to the exterior siding of the Rent-A-Center in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue Wednesday morning caused roughly $20,000 in damages, fire crews estimated.

Fire crews with Riverside Fire Authority and Chehalis Fire responded to reports of the blaze just after 8 a.m. on Aug. 25 and forced entry into the business to confirm no one was inside.

The fire, which is believed to have started in a nearby dumpster, burned one side of the building along with the building’s heating and air conditioning units. The cause is still under investigation.

The fire was quickly extinguished and crews left the scene just before 9:20 a.m.
