Dorthey Louise Pine, 85, of Centralia, Wash., passed into the presence of Jesus her Savior, Monday, April 12, 2021. She was born and raised in Red Bluff, Calif., to Harry and Ethel Woolsey.
Dorthey is survived by her husband, Roland "Ron" Pine; son, Robert Pine of Gig Harbor, Wash.; daughter, Patricia Barnts of Sedro-Woolley, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; along with Ron’s twin brother, Donald Pine and wife, Marjorie; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Harry and Ethel Woolsey; and sisters, Betty Jean Cederburg and Edith Marie Ewing.
Dorthey and Ron were married July 23, 1955, in Red Bluff, Calif. Ron says of her, “She loved her Savior more than anything else in this world and wonder upon wonders she loved me! She was also a good cook and loved to bake cookies for her grandchildren.” They both enjoyed going out on drives to observe God’s creation. Dorthey would tell Ron that she always felt safe with him behind the wheel. After retirement, they took a few longer trips around the United States and even were able to go to Ecuador and Peru, South America. When at home and all was quiet, Dorthey enjoyed to embroider pillow cases and table runners as gifts.
Because of Dorthey’s love of her Savior, Jesus, serving others and prayer were very important to her. Teaching was just one way she served others. She taught kindergarten and first grade for over 20 years. Through the years, she also was a Sunday school teacher or director in each church Ron and her were members of. She taught Bible studies and discipled young ladies. At their last church, Mt. View Baptist, she helped in the church library, keeping everything organized. Together, Dorthey and Ron have served and prayed for missionaries all around the world.
One of the many ways she served her family was her great parties. She loved making every event special and fun, to the delight of both her children and grandchildren (and anyone else nearby)! Her kindness, hugs and prayers will be missed by both family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Olympic Memorial Garden Cemetery in Tumwater at 10 a.m., April 29, 2021. In lieu of flowers, you may send any gifts to Ethnos (formerly New Tribes Missions), 312 W. First St., Sanford, FL 32771. Thank you.
