The W.F. West girls basketball team finished its week with a league blowout, downing Shelton 70-28 on Friday at home.
The Bearcats threw a knockout shot early, putting up 32 points in the opening quarter behind 10 from senior Morgan Rogerson.
Rogerson finished 13 points, but it was junior Carlie Deskins who took the top marks on offense, logging 18 points.
“Carlie came out and had the best game of the year so far for her,” W.F. West coach Kyle Karnofksi said. “She was really great tonight for us.”
Julia Dalan plugged in 16 points in the post. Grace Simpson added nine, and Amanda Bennett and Lena Fragner both had five.
“Grace did a good job again,” Karnofski said. “Amanda hasn’t scored a bunch but she’s been super steady with her defense and running our offense.”
Still perfect on the winter, W.F. West (4-0, 2-0 2A EvCo) will dip out of conference play to host White River on Tuesday in a key non-league showdown.
