Defense Leads to Offense in Bearcats’ Win Over Wolves

Posted

Holding Black Hills to single digits in each quarter save for the fourth, and hitting the running clock with five minutes left in the third, the W.F. West girls basketball team defeated the Wolves in Chehalis Tuesday night, 61-30.

The Bearcats are still unbeaten in league, and are looking at an opportunity to clinch a league championship this Thursday in another home contest against Tumwater.

On Tuesday night, though, the Bearcats took care of business, with Julia Dalan scoring a game-high 28 points and Morgan Rogerson adding 12 points in a solid game from the Bearcats two posts.

“I was really proud of Morgan,” Bearcats coach Kyle Karnofski said. “She asserted herself in transition and was really aggressive all the way around. I like what we did defensively, we’ve talked a lot about getting into passing lanes and working on our rotations and we did a good job solidifying things we’ve focused on.”

Black Hills was led by Kiley McMahon’s 16 points.
