Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputies and swift water rescue team personnel are attempting to recover a deceased individual from the Cowlitz River northeast of Toledo, the sheriff’s office confirmed Friday afternoon.  

Personnel are staged at the Blue Creek Boat Launch adjacent to the Cowlitz Trout Hatchery. 

Deputies initially responded to the area for a report of an overdue fisherman, according to the sheriff’s office. The body was reportedly found trapped by debris in the river. 

The sheriff’s office did not release any identifying information about the overdue angler on Friday.
