Comets Soar Past Vikings, 54-12

Naselle busted off 24 points in the first quarter and cruised past visiting Mossyrock, handing the Vikings a 54-12 loss in 1B Columbia Valley League play Friday.

Mossyrock suffered a couple injuries and was forced to play short handed against one of the premier 1B teams in the state.

“We were a little banged up but hats off to Naselle,” Mossyrock coach Eric Ollikainen said. “They’re a good football team. We’ve got to get better. No excuses.”

The Vikings were limited to just 80 yards on the ground while surrendering 368 to the Comets. Mossyrock finished with 280 total yards while giving up 427 to Naselle.

Easton Kolb was 11 for 22 passing for 200 yards, while Keegan Kolb caught six of those passes for 173 yards. Keegan Kolb also led the rushing attack with two carries for 44 yards. Sage Griesen added seven touches for 21 yards and Marshall Brockway carried the rock eight times for 24 yards.

Mossyrock falls to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in league play. The Vikings travel to rival Winlock on Friday for sole possession of second place in league.
